Karl Who?
One of the biggest things in the media last week was how Andrea Mitchell got man-handled by a murderous regime in Sudan for asking their prez why he killed a few million people. Oooh, Condi got pissed and demanded an an "Official" apology. So what. This guy murdered some two million people and the ladies from the U.S. are pissed because they(Andrea et.al.) were told not to ask about the murders, so they said fuck that and they violated the rules of protocol of that murderous country, which brings up, why were they there?
Well, one very good theory would be to throw enough smokebombs around the situation of Karl Rove and it's bigger cousin, the issue of why we went to war. Has our president gotten us into something due to non-negotiation with Iraq that might make Watergate look like a truthfest and confessional?
These are strong words, but I mean them wholeheatedly. I think Bunnypants has become the enemy of the people. He has , either purposely or through stupidity, damaged everything he has touched. Walker Bush has to be called on the cards he has played regarding why we went to war, when are we leaving, where is all the oil money from Iraq, where is the money appropriated to the soldiers overseas, why is he protecting a man guilty of treason (Rove), how'd he blow the surplus so fast, his relations with the bin Laden family and their relationship with the Carlyle Group, I mean, c'mon. Jesus Fucking H. Christ, folks. It goes on and on and on. When a man takes on the arrogance of afflicting his world view upon his own people he is serving, he must be willing to own up to those decisions resulting from the arrogance.
What does it take before the U.S. realizes that we were never meant to be in this conflict? There was no conflict prior to our "liberation". If one follows Bunnypant's supposed political philosophy, what in the hell was Condi Rice doing visiting Sudan? If you followed what he has said regarding rogue nations, we would be at war with Sudan, with North Korea, with Iran, with Libya, and on and on and on.
One soldier was recently asked if they were provided with a rathole during a combat in '04. He replied "We are all in a rathole, sir. " He was demoted. Can the soldiers there not speak their minds? I wonder what the feelings for Rumsfeld are from the special ops troops. Even though they are soldiers, they still have freedom of speech. I wish some would begin to speak up. The horrid conditions these men have been subjected to could not cause feelings of ill will. Wait until the truth hits them between the eyes. If Bunnypants gets hit with indictments, as he should, then the whole BFEE should crumble.
But the media is to blame as well. They overlook the big picture in order to gain ratings advantages over competitors. At least the internet has provided outlets such as Bartcop who keep the REAL ISSUES up top on page one. None of the majors do it. None of the networks do it. They'll have op-ed pieces or have a blurb someplace but, and I hate to repeat what I have said before, but we are at a very bloody war and we aren't "winning".
Why weren't Middle Eastern scholars attending those pre-invasion talks with Rumsfeld, Bush, Cheney and the rest of the liars? I'm sure any Middle Eastern scholar would have warned of the risk of the religious divisions that existed and would continue to exist. The Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds have been at odds for thousands of years. Did Bush really think of himself as the Frat Boy Who Everyone Will Agree With?
Steven Bochco , a television producer who has come up with some very good drama has a new series regarding the war in Iraq. I wonder how much horror they will allow on television. Maybe it will take a television show to make people think. If things have come to information through television drama, so be it. I just hope the horror of war can begin to be translated through such a medium. I highly doubt it.

Pushes Back Broadway Opening
'Lennon'
"Lennon," the problem-plagued musical celebrating the life and songs of John Lennon, has pushed back its Broadway opening again, this time to Aug. 14.
The show originally was scheduled to open at the Broadhurst Theatre on July 28, but later decided to open a week later, Aug. 4.
Producer Allan McKeown said the second postponement was made so director Don Scardino and his creative team could "make fundamental changes to the opening and closing scenes of the show, including adding an additional song from the John Lennon catalog."

Agenda Remains Stalled
FCC
Federal regulators were all set to dive into the thorny issue of media ownership rules when a problem cropped up: They couldn't agree on how to get started.
The five-member Federal Communications Commission has only four spots filled, leaving an even division between Republicans and Democrats and the potential for stalemate along political lines. That's what happened on the media ownership issue, which was shelved.
That illustrates one challenge new chairman Kevin Martin faces: trying to set his regulatory agenda with only one other GOP ally on the commission. Few believe the FCC will get a fifth member - and Martin another Republican ally - before the fall, leaving the possibility that contentious issues like media ownership will remain stalled until then.

Studios Agree on Specs
Digital Cinema
After three years of study, Hollywood studios have agreed on a technical specification to deliver digital movies to theaters.
Digital cinema promises crisper, clearer films for theatergoers. A digital "print" of a film is pristine no matter how many times it is shown, unlike traditional 35mm film prints, which develop pops, crackles and other blemishes over time.
Going digital also promises millions of dollars in savings for the studios, which would no longer have to make and distribute the costly prints.
Digital projection systems are expensive. A projector alone can range from $75,000 to $120,000. Then there's the server to store the files and a software system to compress and encrypt the files to protect them from piracy.
Theater owners have said studios should pay because they will see the greatest savings from going digital. Studios have so far balked at footing the bill to outfit the nation's screens with the costly systems.

Wins Libel Case Over Drug Report
Kate Moss
A lawyer for Kate Moss said Wednesday the British supermodel had accepted substantial libel damages from a newspaper that alleged she had collapsed into a coma after taking cocaine.
An article published in Britain's Sunday Mirror and on the newspaper's Web site in January alleged that during a visit to Barcelona, Spain, in June 2001, Moss collapsed into a drug-induced coma and had to be revived after taking large amounts of cocaine.
The newspaper's solicitor, Philip Conway, acknowledged the allegations made against the model were wrong, and apologized for the distress and embarrassment caused.

Underrepresented
Disabled Actors
Actors with disabilities are underrepresented in movies and TV shows and are reluctant to ask producers for even minor accommodations, according to a study commissioned by the Screen Actors Guild.
While 20 percent of all Americans have a physical or mental disability, less than 2 percent of TV show characters display a disability and only one-half percent have speaking roles, according to an executive summary of a report released Tuesday.
The study was compiled using focus groups and a survey mailed to 1,237 SAG members who have identified themselves as having a disability.

Want To Fight In Iraq
'Raging Grannies'
Five greying anti-war activists from a group dubbed the "Raging Grannies" face possible jail time after demanding to be enlisted in the US Army to fight in Iraq, one of them said.
The women, aged between 57 and 92, were charged with criminal trespass after turning up at an Armed Forces Recruiting Center in the western US state of Arizona demanding they be allowed to join the fighting ranks.
"We're very serious about that, we really want to enlist," 74-year-old "Raging Granny" Betty Schroeder told AFP.
"We think it would be better if old people were killed at war than young ones," the retired nurse, whose husband and two brothers were killed in battle in other wars, explained.
Eight "grannies," including Schroeder, are accused of invading military territory by entering a military recruiting office in the city of Tucson on July 13 to sign up.

Ticketed Twice During Charity Race
Dennis Rodman
Even when he's doing good, Dennis Rodman comes across as bad, bad, bad. The former NBA star was pulled over for speeding twice Tuesday while driving his gold-and-black Lamborghini in a charity rally race, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
In between, Rodman was involved in a minor crash and later accused of stealing a hat in what he says is a "misunderstanding" at a gas station in Glenwood Springs.
"It's been that kind of day for me," Rodman said by phone late Tuesday.

More Spotted in Texas
Rare Hummingbirds
The recent sighting of a rare hummingbird has bird biologists in Texas almost giddy. A white-eared hummingbird spotted in Lubbock earlier this month was the first to be seen in the South Plains and Panhandle regions, according to the Llano Estacado Audubon Society. Eight others have been seen in West Texas this year. Between 1972 and the end of last year, only 14 had been sighted in Texas.
"This is a real explosive jump in our numbers," said Mark Klym, who coordinates the Texas Hummingbird Roundup for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. "Our bird biologists want to know what's going on."
Wildlife department officials want the public's help in reporting additional sightings of the bird, which has a short red bill with a black tip and a distinctive white patch of feathers on its dark head.

Danny Simon
Danny Simon, a comedy writer who together with his brother, Neil, wrote for such classic 1950s television series as "Your Show of Shows," has died of complications of a stroke. He was 86.
It was Danny Simon who mentored his younger sibling, as well as nicknaming him "Doc." They worked together in radio in the late 1940s and then in television, a period of their lives chronicled in Neil Simon's 1993 play, "Laughter on the 23rd Floor."
The brothers wrote not only for "Your Show of Shows," 90 minutes of live, original comedy starring Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca, but also for "The Jackie Gleason Show," "The Red Buttons Show" and "The Phil Silvers Show," in which the popular comedian portrayed the conniving Army Sgt. Ernie Bilko.
It was with "Your Show of Shows" that the Simons collaborated with such legendary writers as Mel Brooks, Larry Gelbart, Sheldon Keller, Mel Tolkin and later Woody Allen, who once said, "Everything I learned about comedy, I learned from Danny Simon."
When Neil Simon grew dissatisfied with the restrictions of network TV and left to write for the theater, Danny Simon stayed in television as head writer for NBC's "Colgate Comedy Hour." He later wrote for "Make Room for Daddy," starring Danny Thomas; "Diff'rent Strokes" and "The Facts of Life," and provided material for many of Joan Rivers' appearances on "The Tonight Show."
Danny Simon, born Dec. 18, 1918, in the Bronx, also taught comedy workshops in universities around the country. He is survived by his son, Michael Simon; his daughter, Valerie Simon; and two grandchildren.
