Trimmed Bush and Hedges
Bolton as a Diplomat
Bush rears his ugly brain once again as he nominates this numbnuts Bolton dude. What was Bush thinking? He just got back from bullshitting all the foreign leaders and diplomats on his world wide tour saying America is going to be this wonderful cooperative nation with our foreign allies, and then: BAM, Bush nominates a guy who dislikes, or just doesn't understand diplomacy as a concept at any place or any time or at any level. Good move there, George. I'd bet a thousand I could beat George W. at a game of chess, and I'm no Einstein.
To be Ambassador to the United Nations, you need a man who has a diplomatic style to his personality. From past statements, and from statements of junior staff and statements from even the upper echelon in which he was a subordinate, he seems to have a very offensive type of personality who has contempt for the organization he is nominated to be liaison. The guy is a loose cannon. Bush reared his ugly intelligence and somehow yanked John Bolton from the few synapses that reside in the mainly gray jello that sits between his ears.
One poll I saw said that 66% of the United States think this is the wrong guy for this position of ambassador. I wonder where were these people during the national election of 2004. If a nation picks a stupid man to lead, stupid decisions will follow. But, the right wing wanted their brand of morality in the White House, the type where you are lied to in order to start a fiasco of a war.
I mean, Bolton has come down really hard on the UN He recently excoriated UN General Secretary Kofi Annan for trying to limit warfare and to establish the supremacy of UN forces in occupied territories. So he's already butting heads with the leader of the UN Where is the type of thinking that would lead Bunnypants to nominate this take no prisoners type of guy? It lies in George's brain jello somewhere, maybe left side jello thinking.
His past staff all hate his guts. One staffer of his called him a "serial abuser." The guy doesn't want any sort of dialogue with North Korea. He was on the Taiwan payroll in the past, trying to get them status into the UN and other funky horseshit with Nicaragua and the Contras. He has a horrible reputation as a bully. Way to choose an appropriate nominee, Georgie. You dumbshit.
The vote will go down on April 27th. Senator Christopher Dodd wants him to appear again before the Foreign Relations Committee for more questioning. The Democrats are fighting, but they're out numbered. The way it stands at present, Democrats are not strong enough to kill the nomination. They are outnumbered 10-8 in the Foreign Relations Committee and don't have any clear-thinking Republicans. It looks like the most hideous choice of a man to be ambassador to an organization who we blew off when we invaded Iraq will get the sensitive position.
"Disturbing style," "kiss up-kick down type of guy," these are descriptions of this scumbag nominee from past colleagues. Let's be comforted with the infamous ultra-right wing ideological racist Jesse Helms' endorsement as follows, and I quote : "John Bolton is the kind of man with whom I would want to stand at Armageddon, if it should be my lot to be on hand for what is forecast to be the final battle between good and evil in this world." Why must we suffer these fools? Three fucking per cent put this madness back into power. It's looking more bleak by the day. By the way, the new Pope was a Nazi. Maybe this is a sign Armageddon is around the corner.

Purple Gene Reviews
'The Linda McCartney Story'
Purple Genes' review of the made for TV Movie "The Linda McCartney Story" (2000) and directed by Armand Mastroianni (TV series.."Friday the 13th" - "Virus" - "The Dead Zone").
I went to see Paul McCartney at the Shoreline Theater in Mt. View, California late last year. I had VIP passes and sat right behind Paul McCartneys' present wife Heather. I remember the look on her face when she watched Paul sing a schlocky little love song with Tony Bennett….she just loved it…and so did I….I wonder if she ever got a chance to see the made for TV movie "The Linda McCartney Story" Well it was playing on the Lifetime Movie Network last Sunday Night (the anniversary of Linda's death) and WOW…what a waste….
The year is 1967 and the Beatles are recording their "Sergeant Pepper" album and a well-to-do daughter of a lawyer, Linda Eastman, has been assigned a low paying job to go over to London and photograph the "Fab Four"…..as all LMN made for TV movies are based on real life events, this was truly a travesty of the TRUTH….and a severe stretch of cinema…..
Well, it's love at first sight when Linda (Elizabeth Mitchell - "Gia" - "Nurse Betty" - "The Beast") sees Paul (Gary Bakewell - "Backbeat" (as Paul McCartney) - "Neverwhere" - "Man and Boy") standing at a bar with the BOYS…..of course Linda comes into their world of music just as John Lennon (Tim Piper) has fallen for Yoko Ono (Linda Ko) and (seemingly because of Yoko) the Beatles are about to break up…what follows is the phony fairy tale story of Paul and Linda's life together…through all the trial and tribulations and the catch phrase "Some Love Affairs Never Die". Since nobody in real life would have anything to do with this film…everyone involved was played by a TV actor:
George Harrison - Chris Cound
Ringo Starr - Michael McMurtry
Lee Eastman (Linda's Dad) - George Segal
Mick Jagger - Matthew Harrison
Keith Richards - Claude Duhamel
Bill Wyman - Mitchell Parsons
Brian Jones - Rafe McDonald
Charlie Watts - Vince Flueck
Chrissy Hynde - Jane Sowerby
Dr. Bone Marrow - Barry W. Levy
And the list goes on…….There was no real approved soundtrack with Beatles music Blaring…..no real photos or video clips of the Fab Four…but there was disgusting dialogue and dumb direction …and asinine british accents.
I watched till the bitter end where Linda ends up dying of cancer and there is a moment in the movie where Linda says "I don't want my fans (her vegetarian food business) to know I'm dying because I've told them that if they don't eat meat they won't get cancer"!! She never said this…what a bunch of horse shit…and I didn't really didn't like Linda McCartney that much, but I found this version of her actually making me feel sorry for her …UGH….Why didn't Paul stop this movie from being made ???????
Purple Gene give "The Linda McCartney Story" 1 phony "love will last forever" TEAR out of 10 for trying too hard to squeeze emotion out of a Turnip…which is what this movie IS!

Creates Free Speech Scholarship
Michael Moore
Maverick film-maker Michael Moore on Wednesday announced a "freedom of speech" scholarship for students at a Southern California university who defy the administration and stand up for student rights.
Moore, whose popular documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" helped polarize America in the run-up to the 2004 U.S. presidential elections, established the $2,500 award for students attending California State University San Marcos.
Moore was barred from an October 2004 speaking engagement at the university, about 35 miles north of San Diego, because there was not enough time to arrange for a speaker from the opposite side of the political spectrum.
Students responded by organizing their own protest and holding a 10,000-strong rally and concert at an off-campus venue where folk singer Joan Baez performed and Moore gave a speech.
The scholarship will be awarded to two students, for a minimum of four years, who have done the most to fight for issues of student rights by standing up to the Cal State San Marcos administration, Moore said.

New London Play Fetes Activist
Rachel Corrie
A new play tracing the journey of Rachel Corrie from comfortable American home to death in a Gaza refugee camp paints the young peace activist as neither a traitor nor a saint.
The 23-year-old campaigner was killed in 2003 trying to stop an Israeli army bulldozer from demolishing a Palestinian home in the Rafah camp in the Gaza strip. A personal testimony, the show makes no pretence of impartiality.
But far from being a political rant, "My Name is Rachel Corrie," directed by British actor Alan Rickman, paints a personal portrait, using Corrie's emails and diaries to reveal a poetic writer brimming with ideas, energy and quirky humor.

One More Posthumous Album
Tupac Shakur
Afeni Shakur, mother of slain rap star, Tupac Shakur, has announced that in addition to a spoken word project, there will be one more album of previously unreleased material from the late rapper. The untitled project will be released next year. MTV.com reports that Shakur is currently renovating the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation's Peace Memorial Garden And Visitors Center in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Shakur said, "When Tupac died, the first year and afterward, we thought the way to celebrate him was to have concerts and events every June in Georgia. And after we spent so much money and only affected the people right there, we decided we'd build a foundation and work with young people on an ongoing basis."
Each summer, the foundation hosts a performing arts camp for children from troubled homes. The foundation, which sits on nine acres, is slated to reopen on June 10 -- six days before what would have been the rap star's 34th birthday, June 16.
Shakur, who plans to add a life-size sculpture of Tupac to the foundation's garden next year, added, "This year, Tupac would've been 34 years old. He died when he'd just made 25. I perceive a crisis in young people and I want to share my concern. The most important thing for young people is to stay alive."

Loses Case Against Disney
Franck Le Calvez
A French children's book author who claimed Disney's blockbuster Finding Nemo copied a fish of his creation, was convicted of fraud Wednesday and ordered to pay about $80,000 US in damages and legal fees.
Franck Le Calvez had argued that the lovable title character in Finding Nemo was based on his smiling orange-white clown fish named Pierrot.
He had already lost one legal battle last March when a court ruled that the two fish were similar - both have big smiles and sport three stripes down the side - but that their similarities were not enough to confuse people.
The court ruled that Nemo had existed before Pierrot and that Le Calvez was aware of the Disney character when he created his own.

Missouri Man Spits
Jane Fonda
A man spit tobacco juice into the face of actress Jane Fonda after waiting in line to have her sign her new book, police said.
The man ran off but was quickly caught by police Tuesday night and charged with disorderly conduct.
Capt. Rich Lockhart of the Kansas City Police Department said that although Fonda did not want to press charges against Michael A. Smith, 54, of Kansas City, he was arrested on a municipal charge of disorderly conduct after off-duty officers caught him just outside Unity Temple, where Fonda was signing books.
Smith, a Vietnam veteran, told The Kansas City Star on Wednesday that Fonda was a "traitor" and that her protests against the war were unforgivable. He said he normally does not chew tobacco but did so Tuesday solely to spit juice on the actress.

Officer To Be Reprimanded
Emmanuel Lewis
A police officer will be reprimanded for not giving a speeding ticket to former child television star Emmanuel Lewis after he was clocked driving 25 mph over the posted speed limit while towing a trailer loaded with an sports utility vehicle.
Lewis, the former star of the '80s television series "Webster," got off with only a verbal warning when he gave his autograph and posed for a photo with the police officer and the police chief in this southwest Georgia town. Lewis, who now lives in the Atlanta area, was clocked driving through town at 70 mph in a 45 mph zone.
Although police officers can use discretion in issuing tickets, the Warwick City Council concluded Tuesday that Officer Ron Kirk's actions were improper. The council ordered that the officer receive a written reprimand and that the police chief review his department's policies on giving verbal warnings.
