... it is clear that the U.S. government wants that oil. That's why they planned, first they tried to get the Venezuelan oil and, of course the coup, they staged against us. That was an oil-motivated coup. They want to have the control over Venezuelan oil before going for the Iraq, for Iraq's oil.

BuzzFlash: The final question is kind of a PR question about how this is being handled. A couple times, George took his mom, Barbara, out, which nowadays always seems to be a bit dangerous. But he took his Mom out and she talked about how important George's Social Security "reform" program was for the future of their grandchildren, as if they ever will need a penny from Social Security.

... you say you don't want to be promoted because then you're paid more, and some bean counter in the company is going to say let's get rid of her - she's earning too much money. I got a story recently from someone at GE who asked his boss for a raise. And the boss said, "Why would you want that? It would be like painting a bull's eye on your back." Is this any way to run a business - where you actually start picking off the high achievers because they're paid more?

Goodbye to Bag End
Frodo & Bilbo
September 23 - A Black Rider asks for information about "Baggins" from Gaffer Gamgee at Number 3 Bagshot Row even before Frodo has gone. The Black Rider's wrong turn and Gaffer's misinformation about Frodo's departure time saves the book from an early and disappointing end. Gaffer tells the Black Rider that Frodo has moved to Buckland. Sam says goodbye to the beer barrel in the cellar and leaves the keys to Bag End with the Gaffer. Frodo, Sam and Pippin set out from Hobbiton and spend their first night out of doors. Gandalf rides from Rohan.

Re: Cutting Ralph
Hey Ralph....you need to drop a little acid and get on a Harley !!
"The Wild One" (1953) is not the "greatest biker movie ever made" ! Neither is the "The Wild Ride" (1960)! Nor is "Hell's Angels on Wheels" (1967) Rotten Tomato Meter for "The Wild One" = 85%. Rotten Tomato Meter for "Easy Rider" = 96 %.
It's too bad you missed out on the really hilarious "Acid" movies from the sixties like "The Trip" (1967) and "Psych Out" (1968) "Terribly Entertaining"!!!
But I guess you were watching Eric Von Zipper in Annette movies like "Pajama Party" (1964), "Beach Blanket Bingo" (1965), "How to Stuff a Wild Bikini" (1965) or even "The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini" (1966).
There might be no "Greatest Biker Movie" but just for fun go back and watch "The Wild One" with Brando - back to back with "Easy Rider" and you'll notice some great cameos in "Easy Rider" besides Peter, Dennis and Jack....You get Phil Spector, Jesus, Karen Black, Carrie Snodgress, Grizzly Adams even Bridget Fonda as a baby in the Hippie commune!!!!
Actually, maybe the greatest biker movie ever made was "The Motorcycle Diaries" (2004) !!!!!!!!!

I didn't like "Easy Rider" either.
I guess I was one of these rare (according to right wing pundits)
Baby Boomers who DIDN'T do drugs or sleep around.
The treatment of women in that film sucked, big time!

Rips $chwarzenegger for Policies
Warren Beatty
Actor Warren Beatty leveled a blistering political assault on Gov. Arnold $chwarzenegger on Thursday night, accusing him of governing "by show, by spin, by cosmetics and photos ops."
Beatty made his remarks at a convention of the California Nurses Association, an organization that has emerged in the last year as one of $chwarzenegger's most vociferous critics.
Beatty used most of his address to rail against the Republican governor's "year of reform" ballot initiatives in the Nov. 8 special election. $chwarzenegger is pushing several measures that would curb the power of the Democrat-controlled Legislature and the state's powerful public employee unions.
Beatty, who has criticized the governor several times this year, called the initiatives "union busting" and "fascist."

JetBlue Landing Was 'Surreal'
Taryn Manning
Taryn Manning says watching TV at her seat as a JetBlue airliner circled the region for three hours before making an emergency landing was the most "out-of-body experience I ever had."
The "Hustle & Flow" actress was among 140 passengers as the plane, which had a crippled nose wheel, touched down safely Wednesday at Los Angeles International Airport. No one was injured.
"When we saw our plane on TV as `breaking news' ... it was the most surreal, out-of-body experience I ever had," Manning told talk-show host Craig Ferguson on Thursday during a taping of CBS' "The Late Late Show."

Think They'll Milk It For #3?
John O'Hurley
The votes are in - and John O'Hurley has bested Kelly Monaco to win the "Dancing with the Stars" title many thought he deserved in the first place.
In a rematch, O'Hurley and his professional dancing partner, Charlotte Jorgensen, bested Monaco and hers, Alec Mazo. Monaco beat O'Hurley in the July 6 season finale of the show, but the win over the popular O'Hurley prompted skepticism over the voting process.
The victor of the rematch was chosen purely by viewers - and co-host Tom Bergeron said the winner and loser were separated by just 1 percent of the votes.

Faith-Based Bigotry
Ontario Christian School
A 14-year-old student was expelled from Ontario Christian School because her parents are lesbians, the school's superintendent said in a letter.
"Your family does not meet the policies of admission," Superintendent Leonard Stob wrote to Tina Clark, the girl's biological mother.
Stob wrote that school policy requires that at least one parent may not engage in practices "immoral or inconsistent with a positive Christian life style, such as cohabitating without marriage or in a homosexual relationship," The Los Angeles Times reported in Friday's edition.
Clark and her partner have been together 22 years and have two other daughters, ages 9 and 19.

'Wife Swap'
Jeremy and Vicki Felix have had to get an unlisted phone number, request protection and even move their two children out of their North Syracuse house since the "Wife Swap" episode aired Tuesday, said Wilma Felix, Jeremy's mother.
"It's a nightmare. There's been nothing positive about this," Wilma Felix said, adding her son and daughter-in-law now deeply regret their decision to appear on the popular reality show. They received $5,000 for their appearance, she said.
During the show, Jeremy Felix, 29, was portrayed as a racist, acknowledging he used the N-word at home. The show's theme is to have two wives switch families for two weeks. In this episode, Vicki Felix, 27, who is Caucasian, traded places with Neicey Wiggins, a 40-year-old black woman from North Carolina.

Producer Accused of $5 million Scam
Joseph Medawar
A Hollywood producer who claimed to be making a TV show about the U.S. Department of Homeland Security with the approval of President George W. Bush was arrested on Friday and charged with bilking investors out of more than $5.5 million.
Joseph Medawar, 43, was taken into custody at the Los Angeles offices of his production company, Steeple Entertainment, and charged in U.S. District Court with mail fraud and obstruction of justice, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.
According to an FBI affidavit, Medawar -- who has produced a series of B-movies including "Sleepwalkers" and "Hardbodies 2" -- convinced some 70 investors he was making a TV series called "DHS" with the approval of Bush and former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge.
Among those misrepresentations were that Bush and Ridge had endorsed the show, that Medawar had already filmed a number of episodes, that he had secured rights to distribute the series in 137 overseas markets and that he was about to take his company public, the affidavit said.

Canceled Already
'Head Cases'
The ax fell quickly on Fox's "Head Cases," the first series of the new TV season to be canceled.
The legal comedy-drama starring Chris O'Donnell and Adam Goldberg was yanked after its second airing Wednesday, in which its audience dropped by about half from the first episode.
The series finished in fifth place for its 9 p.m. EDT time slot, drawing just about 3 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research figures. Its competition included ABC's "Lost," which drew a series-best audience of about 23 million in its season premiere this week.

Museum Identifies Four More
Rembrandt van Rijn
The list of paintings known to be by the 17th-century Dutch master Rembrandt van Rijn has just been increased by four, the Dutch museum that bears his name said.
The four oil paintings were previously thought to have been painted by pupils in Rembrandt's studio, but not by the master himself, the Rembrandthuis Museum said.
The paintings are "Portrait of an elderly woman in a white bonnet," done in 1640 and currently owned by a private collector; "Study of a weeping woman" in the Detroit Institute of Arts; "Study of a old man in profile" and "Study of an old man with a beard" both from a private collection in the United States.
