Saturday & Sunday Night
Erin Hart
710 KIRO - 9pm to 1am (pdt) Weekend Nights
The war comes home in an uncomfortable way for many of us. Cindy Sheehan
stands vigil for many and the man who started the war won't even bother to
meet with her--or many of the brave families who have faced the ultimate
horror. What is he afraid of?
And we aim for clarity. Talk to Eric McFadden of Catholics for a Faithful
Citizenship as a counter to Justice Sunday.
Find out more about Gaza and the withdrawal from as many sides and views as
we can find. And we check in with the Women in Black conference.
And Martha G (or is it Marty?) of Bartcop.com brings the best of the (charged) Jack Abramoff
links, because we deserve a break. All the links fit to laugh about and
then some.
Plus local issues such as monorail, and the increasing price of gas--what
are you doing to beat inflation in Washington???? Go Hawks, Mariners.
Join in on 710 KIRO (we stream worldwide) AND
erinhartshow.com.

Purple Gene Reviews
'Dukes Of Hazzard'
Purple Gene's review of the movie "Dukes of Hazzard" (2005)
Directed by Jay Chandrasekhar ("Club Dread" - "Super Troopers") :
"DUKES PUKES" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
106 MINDLESS MINUTES OF YEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAW!!
JESSICA SIMPSON's FIRST ACTING JOB SHOULD BE HER LAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BO AND LUKE SUCK GUTTED ARMADILLO ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WILLIE NELSON WILL SING WITH ANYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JOHN O'BRIEN (SCRIPT WRITER) SHOULD BE SHOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK OK calm down Purple Gene!!!! You paid your $8 and walked in…you read that Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 17%.....Mick LaSalle (SF Chronicle Reviewer) had an empty seat (worst possible review). Even Roger Ebert told you "….it sinks into the MIRE of it's own DESPOND" . You went and bought tickets and popcorn for eight members of your family to sit through the stench…..and you could be heard laughing ….a little!
The truth is, I wanted to see some INANE comedy on a fallow Friday!!!! After viewing this MESS…I came home and sat at my computer screen and couldn't find a thing to say about this WRETCH!!!!!! So I waited 24 hours and tried again…I got a little more upset…but recalling Willie Nelson's role, he did tell a few new jokes in the car chase…and the video clips in the ending credits were kinda ha ha hee haw! But my gawd this was really AWFUL.
I'm not gonna recap the characters and the plot and how it's an attempt to upgrade the old 1979 TV show……suffice is to say that Jessica Simpson ASS and TITS couldn't save this re-tread.
Purple Gene gives "Dukes of Hazzard" 1 fuckin' lame Yee Hah out 10 (I still like Waylon Jennings' version of "Good Ole" Boys" the best).

$chwarzenegger & American Media
Ahnold
A tabloid publisher that was negotiating a business deal with Arnold Schwarzenegger arranged a $20,000 confidentiality agreement with a woman who said she once had a relationship with the actor, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.
Malibu resident Gigi Goyette signed the deal on Aug. 8, 2003, with American Media Inc., which publishes the National Enquirer, Star and other celebrity tabloids. That was two days after Schwarzenegger announced his candidacy in the recall election against then-Gov. Gray Davis, according to the Times.
Later that year, American Media reached an agreement with Schwarzenegger that made him editor of two of the company's fitness magazines. Schwarzenegger was to be paid at least $1 million a year for five years under the deal. The governor severed his financial relationship with the company last month after conflict-of-interest concerns arose, although he continues to write columns for the magazines.
The Enquirer in 2001 published a cover story about an alleged seven-year sexual relationship between Goyette and Schwarzenegger during his marriage to Maria Shriver. But American Media never sought additional information from her after she signed the confidentiality agreement, Goyette told the newspaper.

Museum Features Collection CD
Bill Clinton
The rock 'n' roll president likes to blast jazz and gospel at the golf course. At least, that's what Bill Clinton did last weekend when he heard for the first time a CD of songs featured in his presidential library's music room.
The CD is the latest joint venture for the museum, which has had more than 400,000 visitors in less than nine months, and the store, which is approaching $2 million in sales over the same time span with a recent average of 1,200 transactions a day.
The CD contains: "My One and Only Love" by John Coltrane, "Harlem Nocturne" by David Sandborn, "My Funny Valentine" by Miles Davis, "The Town I Loved So Well" by Phil Coulter, "There Will Never Be Another You" by Art Tatum, "Summertime" by Zoot Sims, "In the Presence of Jehovah" by Mickey Mangun, "Nostalgie" by Igor Butman, "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free" by Nina Simone, "Take My Hand, Precious Lord" by Mahalia Jackson and "Chelsea Morning" by Judy Collins.

The festival, which runs through August 17 and is described as central Europe's biggest music event, is held on the island of Obuda, just north of Budapest. Sziget is the Hungarian word for island.
Apart from N'Dour, the line-up for this year's festival includes Nick Cave, Mory Kante, the French rock group Louise Attaque, Korn, The Licks and the British heavy metal group Saxon.

Locarno Film Festival
Orson Welles
Twenty years after his death, the huge breadth of filmmaker and actor Orson Welles's talent is on display at the Locarno film festival this week in southern Switzerland, revealing a multimedia genius at work years before the concept was imagined.
Entitled "The Magnificent Welles" -- recalling the legendary director's radio series then film "The Magnificent Ambersons" -- the festival's retrospective has restored his 12 feature-length movies to their full glory on the big screen, including "Touch of Evil" and "Macbeth".
Beyond the late US giant's more traditional and better known cinematic legacy, Locarno is also airing television, advertising films, and more than 70 unfinished works of various kinds.

Last Radio Station In Hollywood
KNX
With the planned flip of a switch at 11:05 p.m. Friday, another piece of Hollywood's golden age will disappear forever.
Microphones at the last radio station in Hollywood will go dead as announcers and newscasters complete their final on-air shift at the historic Columbia Square broadcast center.
The relocation of Los Angeles' first radio station, KNX-AM (1070), to new studios in Wilshire Boulevard's Miracle Mile area will end an 85-year tradition of radio broadcasting in the place that bills itself as the world's center of entertainment.
Over the years, Hollywood has been home to 68 radio stations and nine television stations. In the last few years, five television stations have left.
And when Columbia Square is shut down next year, two more - KCBS-TV Channel 2 and KCAL-TV Channel 9 - will move to new headquarters being built in Studio City. That will leave just two television stations, KTLA-TV Channel 5 and KCET-TV Channel 28, in Tinseltown.

Giant Waterfall Discovered in Calif. Park
Whiskeytown Falls
Until recently, very few had seen the roaring water that tumbles three tiers before pouring neatly into Crystal Creek. That such a spectacle should evade even park officials for nearly 40 years is remarkable, said park superintendent Jim Milestone.
"It wasn't on a map, no one on the trail crew knew about it. People who been here 27 years had never seen it," said Milestone, who is leading an effort to clear a trail to the newly named Whiskeytown Falls. It's expected to be finished by next summer.
There's no doubt the falls have had visitors over the years. The Wintu Indians were probably the first, although archeologists have so far found no traces on the site. A small band of loggers that harvested Douglas firs in the early 1950s left behind a choker cable and part of a bulldozer. A knife blade stuck in a nearby tree indicates that others have also made the trek.

Letters to Be Auctioned
T.S. Eliot
A series of tender and whimsical letters written by poet T.S. Eliot to a beloved godson will go on sale next month, auctioneer Bonhams announced Thursday.
The collection of 50 letters to Thomas Faber, a member of the Faber and Faber publishing family, is valued at between $45,000 and $54,000. They include poems and illustrations that formed the basis of Eliot's 1939 children's book, "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats," which was dedicated to Faber.
