Could there come a time again when I go back to supporting Republicans? Of course. When they go back to representing what we used to believe in and when they go back to representing the ideals of this country.

Removes Programing Chief
CGOP
CNBC has reassigned its head of primetime programing following high-profile ratings disasters like "McEnroe," which once drew a zero rating.
In a memo to staffers Thursday, CNBC president Mark Hoffman said Bob Meyers had accomplished much in his tenure and asked him to work on the "execution of key business initiatives at CNBC." Susan Krakower, who was responsible for developing "The Big Idea With Donny Deutsch" and "Mad Money With Jim Cramer," will serve temporarily as head of primetime.
Insiders said CNBC primetime hasn't performed to the level that the network has expected, following the cancellation of several high-profile shows: "McEnroe," "Dennis Miller" and "Topic A With Tina Brown." Under Hoffman's leadership during the past several months, the network has shifted toward a focus on business news throughout the evening.

Still No Word
Dave Chappelle
There's still no word from Comedy Central on when "Chappelle's Show" will return to the network, more than two months after Dave Chappelle abruptly stopped work on the series and essentially disappeared.
The third season of the top-rated sketch show had been scheduled to begin May 31 under a $50 million deal that also covered a fourth season. But that didn't happen. Instead, Chappelle flew to South Africa, saying he needed a break.
Herzog said that he had spoken to Chappelle a few weeks ago in a hotel lobby. According to Herzog, Chappelle said he needed a bit more time; Herzog said he told him they looked forward to working with him again.

New Album & Tour
New York Dolls
After reuniting last year for the first time in decades, seminal underground rock act the New York Dolls is at work on its first new studio album since 1974's "Too Much Too Soon."
The group, down to surviving original members David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain, expects to release the album next spring via Roadrunner Records.
The Dolls regrouped in 2004 at the urging of Morrissey, who was the president of the group's fan club during its heyday. An early comeback show yielded the CD/DVD "The Return of the New York Dolls: Live From Royal Festival Hall 2004," which Morrissey released on his Attack imprint via Sanctuary. Original bassist Arthur "Killer" Kane died suddenly of leukemia shortly thereafter. He was preceded in death by guitarist Johnny Thunders, and drummer Jerry Nolan.

Ends Ties to Magazines
Ahnold
Gov.Arnold Schwarzenegger said Friday that he will end his multimillion-dollar consulting deal with two fitness magazines that rely heavily on advertising for nutritional supplements.
The governor was forced to defend his contract with the magazines after a securities disclosure filed this week showed he would be paid at least $1 million a year for five years to act as a consultant.
Last year, Schwarzenegger vetoed a bill that would have regulated the use of performance-enhancing substances in high school sports.

Laura 'Pickles' Bush
When first Lady Laura Bush joked that her born-again husband's early bedtime was turning her into a "desperate housewife" recently, she drew more than a few knowing snickers from D.C.'s better hostesses. "The president and first lady have always set the social tone in D.C.," notes one longtime Washington gadfly. "But the Bushes are never here! They treat the White House like their temporary quarters and then jet to Texas or Camp David on the weekends. You never see them eating in restaurants like you would the Clintons or Reagans or even his parents. They're a complete and utter drag." Nor do the Bushes host lavish parties at the White House like their socially-invested predecessors.
"Even during the winter, I've heard Laura only spends one week a month at the White House and the rest of the time she's at the ranch in Texas. I know from friends at the embassies that foreign dignitaries never bring their wives anymore because the White House no longer hosts state dinners," our source tattles. Security concerns aside, one reason for the President's reluctance to enter the social whirl may be a fear of running into old friends. According to our source, when George and Laura lived in Georgetown with their twin daughters in the early 80's while his father was serving as Vice President to Ronald Reagan, "Bush had a horrible reputation and knew the D.C. strip club scene a little too well."

Religious Bigotry In Action
Bethany Christian Services
A Christian adoption agency that receives money from Choose Life license plate fees said it does not place children with Roman Catholic couples because their religion conflicts with the agency's "Statement of Faith."
Bethany Christian Services stated the policy in a letter to a Jackson couple this month, and another Mississippi couple said they were rejected for the same reason last year.
The agency is based in Grand Rapids, Mich., and has offices in 30 states, including three in Mississippi. Its Web site does not refer to any specific branch of Christianity.

Two hip-hop radio personalities have been suspended for an on-air discussion of ways to fight police officers - comments made not long after an officer was slain.
Officials at KATZ-FM would not detail the comments, but said the remarks made on Wednesday related to ways to hurt or disarm police officers.
The two suspended disc jockeys, whose professional names are DJ Kaos and DJ Sylli Asz, were discussing with callers on their morning show how to fight for an officer's radio so he or she cannot call for help, the station said.

Maribel Cuevas
An 11-year old girl faces felony assault charges after seeking emergency help for a boy whom she says she accidentally injured after he bullied her with water balloons.
Maribel Cuevas was arrested, handcuffed and taken by police to juvenile hall, where she spent five days with only minimal contact with her parents.
Police contend Maribel was the main suspect in a felony assault and they treated her appropriately.
The officers "grabbed me from behind, by my shirt" the girl said in Spanish. "I was so scared. ... I didn't know what they were doing."
None of the responding officers spoke Spanish, and none who did were called to communicate with the family before the girl was taken to juvenile hall. The police report said Green read Maribel her Miranda rights twice, in English.

Former Dissident
Roy Disney
Former dissident shareholder Roy Disney, who led a revolt against the Walt Disney Co management last year, said on Thursday he will shut down his Web site, savedisney.com, days after striking a truce with the company.
Roy Disney and partner Stanley Gold used the site to criticize the entertainment giant's leadership after they left the board in late 2003. But the two men and the management agreed to work together to better the company last week.
The site would be dismantled on Aug. 7, Roy Disney said.
The shareholder rebellion fomented by Gold and Roy Disney led the Disney board to strip Chief Executive Officer Michael Eisner of his chairmanship last year.
