Murder In Small Town X

Deputy Andy

Hey, I've been watching since the first episode, and my initial reaction was that
it is going to be the newpaper reporter. The very first shot of the show was of
a parade, and he was covering it. For some reason, I remember seeing him and that
he looked...well...not quite right. I should watch the first episode again, but
something gave me a hint about him.

In looking for a motive, we need to look for suspects who stand to benefit from
the murders. Do you think the local fishwrap is selling more issues with the
coverage of the murders?

As far as the show goes, I really don't like it *all* that much. I hate the way
all the people get pissed when they get tabbed to go on a mission. Get over it.
Someone has to be picked. I also don't like the way the real cop has to lead the
people through every part of the investigation. They should be allowed to fumble
around and make their own mistakes. Instead, they're told, "go here and look for
this." They get back and a thrilled that they found exactly what they were sent
to find.

I've also noticed that, especially in the last episode, in the final mission, each
of the places seemed to have something that could mark a clue. It's a big flowered
cross, I think. Anyway, has anyone else wondered if this show gives the producers
a really, really easy to manipulate who lives and who dies? Set up each spot with
the same clue you want to be found. After the envelopes are opened, make sure the
killer is waiting at the right spot to off the guy you don't want to return. Also,
I think having the cross at each location adds to the shock of the victim. I'm
sure they see the cross and think they found the clue and will surivive. They let
their guard down, and then they get wacked.

I guess I'll keep watching, but it's the new Fox show "24" that I'm really looking
forward to. Too bad Bartcop wasn't around to watch Twin Peaks when that came out.
Now THAT was a great show.

I'll let you know where to send the keys to my new 'vette.

 ~~Deputy Andy

More Musings From The ShadowCatcher

The ShadowCatcher
Get Real~~~

It seems to me whenever we start talking about what is Real and what is not, we
really don't know what we are talking about, our concept of reality has to be,
like everything else, Relative, or reflections of reflections.~~~ha!

There can be only one Reality. Consciousness, mind and matter are the three
aspects of the one reality. And when integrated consciousness reacts with matter
through a vehical, the result is mind, which forms the basis of all experience.
With regard to this interaction we have to note the following~~~~~
A - As there is only one reality, and there can be nothing out-side that
reality the whole process of interaction is within the Reality itself and
        between its different aspects.
B - Consciousness is the highest aspect of reality and matter the lowest and
        mind comes inbetween.
C - Experience is related to mind. It is the result of the interaction of
consciousness and matter in the widest sense of the terms.
D - The experience which results on interaction of consciousness and matter
differs according to the nature of what vehical or the particular
combination of matter which serves as an instrument of consciousness on a
        particular plane.~~~~ha!

Now having said that, I asked my Aussie friend, the bloke with no-name, who is
stuck in a Billie-Bog, blowing on his Didgeridoo, watching the Dingos play, R U
a 'dopple-ganger', a 'Gang-banger', a Mirage, or only a Radar-image?~~~~~ha!

Hi ho!, you have come along just in time to drink this wine of mine.

                                                   Regards
                                                            ShadowCatcher

Murder In Small Town X - Theory

Kronos
Murder In Small Town X Theory

I wasn't sure about "Murder in Small Town X" until I realized: the show has about
as much in common with a real police investigation as "Survivor" does with actually
being stranded on a deserted island. Remembering that made the show a whole lot
more fun.

Now then: Profiling serial killers shows that they usually are:

   * White males between 25 and 35 years old.
   * Can be of high income or low income.
   * Average to high intelligence.
   * Usually married with children and has a career.

The only suspect who fits this profile is Frank Kovick -- Reporter.

Furthermore:

In the pilot episode, Sgt. Fredo mentioned that the Killer's movie was home-processed
8mm film. A reporter would in all likelihood have access to the newspaper's darkroom.

Serial Killers enjoy revisiting the scenes of their crimes. As a reporter, Kovick's
presence at crime scenes wouldn't be questioned.

Kovick wouldn't be suspected if he inadvertantly let a detail about the killings
slip -- most would assume that as a reporter, he would have inside information
anyway and dismiss his knowledge.

Let me know if I win that 'vette... I need a new car.

Week In Review

WEEKLY REVIEW

Two hundred couples were selected by an Italian embryologist to take part in a human
cloning project; the human clones will be made using a technique similar to that
which produced Dolly the sheep. The United States House of Representatives voted
to ban human cloning for both reproduction and medical research; the measure also
prohibits the sale of treatments derived from such procedures. Some British and
Indian scientists claimed that they had positively identified alien bacteria
entering Earth's upper atmosphere from space, which would tend, they said, to
confirm the Panspermia theory of life's origin. Hundreds of pounds of such
bacteria, they estimated, are falling to earth every day. An 1859 first edition of
Darwin's On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection was returned to a
Boston public library eighty years after it was due. Divers recovered most of the
190-million-year-old dinosaur footprints that a group of Boy Scouts pried up and
threw into a lake. China decided it was time to start screening donated blood for
HIV. Many people in Thailand were still drinking their own urine. In Bangkok, a
pair of male genitals were found inside a garbage can. A single snake, which
reportedly can be seen only by women and which disappears after striking, was being
blamed for killing seven women in Kano, Nigeria. The American Bar Association was
thinking about revising its ethics rules so that lawyers would no longer be bound
to keep their clients' secrets but would be permitted to have sex with them.
Canada's very cool medical marijuana law went into effect....

In Memory

Larry Adler

Larry Adler Larry Adler (left)
Larry Adler, the world's greatest harmonica player, died late Monday Aug. 6, 2001,
after a showbiz career of over 70 years, at St Thomas's Hospital in London
surrounded by his family.

Mr. Adler was a victim/survivor of the HUAC blacklisting of the 1950's. During
that era, he found safe haven in England, much to the detriment of American music,
in spite of the US Constitution, and to our everlasting shame.

He leaves four children, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Lorenzo Music, the voice of "Garfield" the cartoon cat and 'Carlton, The Doorman',
on 'Rhoda', died Saturday of lung cancer at his home.

Music won an Emmy as a writer for the "Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour" in 1969 and

his wife, Henrietta, the theme song for "The Bob Newhart Show," which he helped create.

Music and his partner David Davis created "Rhoda," a spinoff to "The Mary Tyler Moore
