AOL SUCKS!
Personal Experience
Tonight aol bit my ass, as Dick Cheney would say, "Big time."
Foolishly listened to their techs, and the result is I lost everything.
My address book.
My graphics.
My patience.
And, a good deal of faith in human adaptability.
If there is a hell, there is a special hot little corner for 'Gregg' and 'Tommy',
the aol techs-from-hell.
So, besides looking for opinions on the new TV season, I'm also looking for
ISO suggestions.
Bigger don't mean better, just means they're meaner, better.

MSNBC has disclosed the contents of a personal letter that Larry King wrote to embattled Congressman
Gary Condit urging him to appear on his CNN interview show. In the letter, King offered to air the
interview "without edits that put you at the mercy of selective sound bites and packaging." King then
disclosed that during a recent trip to Sea World with his children, "I did a lot of thinking about what I'd do
in your shoes." He then continued: "I want my kids to know that it's not the tough situations we face, but
the way we handle them that defines us. Gary, tell your story."

Superstar Jack Nicholson has been asked to provide his DNA for an investigation to confirm that late
Don Rose was his real father. Rose, who died of cancer in Florida three years ago at age 86, gave his
daughter Donna a saliva swab before he passed away in the hope that his DNA would match The Shining
star Jack's. The actor has never acknowledged that Rose could be the mysterious father he'd never
known. However, uncaring Jack refused to co-operate - and Donna insists the old man's urge to see him
had nothing to do with his profession.

A place in literary immortality is on offer to the highest bidder. Best-selling novelists Robert Harris
(''Enigma''), Ken Follett (''Eye of the Needle''), Pat Barker (''The Ghost Road'') and Zadie Smith
(''White Teeth'') are among the authors agreeing to name a character in forthcoming books after those
prepared to pay up for the privilege. More on this story:

And now, Alex's 2 cents on the movie "The Musketeer":
First of all, I haven't seen it. Second, I am not planning to see it anytime soon, definitely not
for $9. You see I am a big fan of Alexander Dumas, and not just because our names match. He is
a great fiction writer, and I've read most of his novels including "The Three Musketeers",
"Queen Margot" and "Count of Monte-Cristo". Dumas' novels have it all: love, betrayal, revenge,
romance, friendship, and great fighting. There's no need to add, take away, or substitute as this
movie has done. From the previews, trailers and reviews that I have read, this is yet another lame
Hollywood remake of "The Three Musketeers". It puzzles me why would anyone take an excellent
script and re-write it? What purposed could it suit? It's like taking "Gone With the Wind" and
giving Rhett Butler a Ford Mustang instead of a horse carriage. I guess I can see that producers t
ry to attract the younger audience who are used to super-thrillers like "Terminator", "Star Wars"
and such, thus causing old stories to have a new spin (take for example "Romeo and Juliet", or the
new version of Othello - "O"). But it bothers me to see what producers and directors do to classic
literature. Now, it might overall be a great movie, and probably very interesting to watch, but to
someone who has read and re-read the book 10 times over, it will be hard to watch. Last time they
made a Dumas movie, "Man in the Iron Mask", the director twisted the book so bad that I had to
walk out half way through the movie, I've never done that before. If you see the movie, and you like
it, please write your review for us. And that's my 2 cents.
