Dave Letterman Stadium

Dave
David Letterman believes his alma mater should name its football stadium
after him, even if he doesn't pay a dime for the honor.

``What could be more fun, on a crisp autumn Indiana afternoon, to load the
family and get the picnic and have a little tailgate party out there in the
parking lot of majestic Dave Letterman Stadium?'' the 1969 graduate asked
his television audience Wednesday.

University officials said they enjoyed the attention from Letterman, but they
have no immediate plans to grant his wish unless he's willing to pay up to
$6 million - about half the cost of the new stadium.

``There will be no money changing hands,'' Letterman said. ``The reason I
don't need to give Ball State University money is each and every night,
especially during football season, I'm giving them a million dollars in
free exposure.''

Where's Jenna?

Jenna's Beau Back To Rehab

jenna
Trust-fund terror Brandon Davis - the former model who allegedly romanced
presidential party girl Jenna Bush - is back in rehab. Davis fell off the
wagon at a Playboy Mansion party earlier last month, where he drank
margaritas, vodka and beer, and snorted cocaine, Star magazine reports.

"I certainly went out with a bang," Davis, the grandson of ex-20th Century
Fox mogul Marvin Davis, admits to the tab. "It was a wild night." The tab
says Brandon's mom put him on the family's private jet to Minnesota's
Hazelden clinic for a two-month stay. "I want to be sober," Davis tells the
Star. "It was getting bad. I was originally going to be here for 28 days,
but my family wants me to stay on another 30 days. But I'm not blaming Jenna
for this situation."

Meanwhile, the National Enquirer recently reported underage Jenna and six
girlfriends guzzling Bloody Marys at a hotel in La Jolla, Calif. But the
manager told a San Diego paper, "no one, to my knowledge, saw her drinking
any alcohol."

For more, Bad Influence?

The article in 'Star Magazine' (Rupert owned) is on page 22...
it says that Brandon Davis really fell off the wagon (as Dick Cheney would
phrase it "big time"), on Aug. 4th, at Hefner's Playboy mansion.

Two paragraphs later, "Days later, after completing her summer internship at
Brillstein Grey, a top Beverly Hills entertainment company, Jenna, 19, flew
home to Texas."

Now, her parents were in Crawford for most of August, as we've all had no
choice in hearing --- yet, never was there any mention of the 'twins'
visiting their parents over the course of the month...

Still, the article says Jenna "flew home to Texas"
I gotta ask, where is Jenna's home?

A dorm?
An apartment?

It sure as hell ain't Crawford.

In The Kitchen With BartCop & Friends

Michele
"In the Kitchen with Bartcop and Friends" is an electronic recipe file.
These pages will attempt to catalog the best recipes from Bartcop and his
readers.

This idea was spawned by Bartcop's excellent Train Station Chicken
recipe -- if you haven't tried it, you must! It's foolproof, perfect fried
chicken.

We need more recipes like that; the dish that you always make for family
gatherings, the one thing people rave about and demand you make for them.
Please email them to recipes@pdxnet.net and I will review them and post
them. Don't worry about the HTML, just send me text, or rich text, or a Word
document, photos, video, whatever you have, and I'll take care of making it
web-ready. Don't hesitate to write with any questions you may have and bring
on the recipes!

MTV Video Music Awards Are Coming

Britney Spears is planning something beastly for MTV's Video Music Awards. Pop's
teen queen will debut her new single, "Slave 4 U," at Thursday's big event at
Lincoln Center, and although details of the performance are under wraps, this
much is certain: She'll be out there with a bunch of animals.

Anyone who saw last year's VMAs knows that Spears and Rage Against the
Machine's Tim C. - who climbed the scaffolding behind one of the presenters'
podiums and had to be lured down by security - almost single-handedly made
the event worth watching.

This year, MTV has its fingers crossed that host Jamie Foxx will help make the
VMAs must-see TV.

The network is also counting on a disparate lineup of performers to keep the
night going, including Missy Elliot, a three-time nominee for her kinetic
"Get Ur Freak On"; and Best New Artist nominee Alicia Keys.

MTV vets U2, nominated for Best Group Video for "Elevation Remix," will play a
medley of hits. And *NSYNC is working up a re-creation of its candy-colored
VMA nominee, "Pop."

The producers have also reserved stage time for two rock/metal bands that have
been in heavy rotation on the music channel but are still striving for
mainstream saturation: Best Rock Video nominees Linkin Park and Staind.

But the most unusual presenter has got to be actor Christopher Walken. The
"Deer Hunter" star danced and even smiled his way through Fatboy Slim's
"Weapon of Choice," which is up for nine awards, tops among nominees.

Twiggy

Twiggy
Former sticks-and-bones model Twiggy now says she hated the way she looked
when she was the '60s equivalent of waifish Kate Moss. "I had a flat chest
and skinny legs," she recalls. But she couldn't say no to the people who
created her image. Now she says she only started enjoying life when she
passed 35. "I've finally got the confidence to be myself," says the nicely
rounded matron.

Still A Virgin?

britney
Britney Spears somehow forgot to tell her parents that she and boyfriend
Justin Timberlake bought a new $3 million L.A. home together until a little
while after the fact. Oops!

Now that they're cohabiting, Britney claims she's still a virgin but close
proximity makes it more of a challenge. And that's as far as she'll go with
the sex talk.

"It's personal," she tells YM. "The press will ask me things like how far
I've gone or what's the worst thing I've done sexually. I'm not going to
go there."

Spears does admit a bad-girl move to the magazine: She owns a fake ID.

Troy Donahue

Troy Donahue
Troy Donahue, a heartthrob actor who climbed to stardom in the 1950s with his
role in ``A Summer Place,'' only to fade into obscurity later, has died, his
publicist said Sunday. He was 65.

His debut in the 1957 film ``Man Afraid'' was followed by another half-dozen
films before Donahue signed with Warner Bros. and starred as Sandra Dee's young
lover in ``Summer Place'' in 1959.

He soon became a teenage heartthrob, appearing in such films as
``Parrish'' (1961), ``Rome Adventure'' (1962) and ``My Blood Runs Cold'' (1964).

Around the same time, he also enjoyed success on the small screen, appearing
on ``Surfside 6'' (1960-62) and ``Hawaiian Eye'' (1962-63).

By the late 1980s, Donahue was appearing in mostly low-budget movies like
``Bad Blood'' (1989), ``Assault of the Party Nerds'' (1989) and
``Cry-Baby'' (1990).

He is survived by a son and a daughter and by his longtime companion and
fiancee, Zheng Cao, an opera singer, Palmer said.
